Adam Behrends

Adam Behrends comes to Staples High School from IMG Academy, where he has coached for the past nine years. Behrends helped launch the program, and has been an assistant coach for the IMG National Varsity team that went a combined 53-4 from 2013-18. The program finished in the top-five of the MaxPreps and USA TODAY national rankings each of the past four years, and developed more than 140 student-athletes who went on to Division I football programs. During his career, Adam has worked with players from the youth level up to the NFL, at all positions. His specialty was defensive backs and quarterbacks. In addition to his coaching duties with the varsity football program, Adam coordinated and directed weekly summer camps, designed and directed the football-specific portion of the Cam Newton Skills Challenge, coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebackers during the 2011 NFL Lockout, and has coached at the Under Armour All-American Combine in St. Petersburg in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Prior to becoming an Assistant Coach, Adam served as an intern within the IMG Academy Athletic & Personal Development program and Football program in 2010. He has led and directed speed and strength sessions, as well as leading strength and conditioning programs. As a coach with the varsity football program, Adam has helped guide the development of dozens of top NCAA prospects. Among the players he has worked with are the likes of Seattle Seahawks RB Bo Scarbrough, Florida State and Florida Atlantic QB Deondre Francois and Michigan QB Shea Patterson, all of whom were selected to the Under Armour (Scarbrough, Francois) and U.S. Army All-American games (Patterson). Notably, Patterson bagged Army-All American Game MVP honors in 2015, on the heels of guiding IMG Academy to its first undefeated regular season. He also made an impact with the IMG Academy Pre-Combine/Draft Training program. With the Combine program, he worked with several position groups, including quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs, linebackers and defensive backs. Those players include the likes of Seattle Seahawks QB and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Josh Dobbs, Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill and Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater. During his collegiate football career, Adam played as a Defensive Back at Minnesota State-Mankato after transferring from Ellsworth Community College where he was an all-region Defensive Back in 2006. Adam graduated from Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa, and was an all-conference defensive back in 2003. Adam is originally from Bettendorf, Iowa. His mother, Teri, and brother, Tony, still reside in Bettendorf. Adam’s oldest brother, JR, resides in Iowa City.


Phil Abraham

Phil Abraham was a tri-athlete at Shelton High School where he participated in the football, wrestling, and lacrosse programs. After high school, Abraham attended the University of Connecticut where he studied mathematics and graduated in 2013. After becoming a teacher, Abraham started coaching football in Shelton in 2015. He was an offensive and defensive freshmen line coach and also worked with JV and Varsity players. While in Shelton he helped his freshman players achieve two undefeated seasons and saw his varsity team participate in three consecutive successful postseasons. In addition to coaching football, Abraham was also a wrestling coach for two years in Shelton. Currently, Abraham is a math teacher at Staples and looks forward to working with his athletes on the field and in the classroom. He believes in developing his players academically and athletically in order to help them fully develop in all aspects of life.


Robbie Milne

Robert is entering his first year as Wide Receiver Coach at Staples High School. Previously, he coached Shelton High School Football, serving most recently as the Freshman Head Coach. He was also an integral member of the Shelton Youth Football program, developing that program at every level. Additionally, Robert coached for the Shelton High School Lacrosse team as a Varsity assistant and JV Head Coach. Robert graduated from Shelton High School in 2011, where he lettered two years in Football and Lacrosse


Ryan Connors

Ryan is entering his second year as on the Staples Varsity staff. He is a 2015 Staples graduate and played three years Varsity as defensive back and linebacker. Ryan has previously volunteered in the PAL football and basketball programs, and with the Westport Challenger baseball program. He is currently attending Norwalk Community College, and resides in Westport, CT.


Tre Wilson

Tre Wilson is a first year coach new to the staff. He is a 2011 graduate of the Harvey School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball each of his four years. Upon graduation he attended Dean college to play football. After a year at Dean, in 2013 Tre began to coach at the King School in Stamford, CT coaching football, basketball and baseball at the 7/8, JV and varsity levels. He is also involved with coaching the Stamford JCC travel basketball program as well as the express north 2028 lacrosse program.


Ben Talbott

Talbott is in his first season with the Wreckers, coaching the kickers and punters. He is currently the Westport PAL tackle football commissioner for 5th-8th grade and a 4 year coach in the program. At Lehigh University, he was an All American Punter in 1996 and also a 2 time All Patriot League Punter. In high school he was twice named CIAC All-State at Haddam Killingworth as a kicker and punter where he holds many school records. A 16 year resident of Westport, Ben is the founder of Birds Eye Sports, a production and broadcast media company. He lives in town with his wife Heather and 4 children, Jackson 11, Addie 9, Liv 7, and Mia 3.


Steve Anderson

Steve Anderson was a two sport athlete at Trumbull High School where he participated on the Football and Lacrosse team and was named All FCIAC for both sports. Anderson continued his playing career at the University of New Haven where he competed on the Men's Lacrosse team. He also continued his football career playing Semi Professionally out of New Haven until 2015. Anderson began his coaching career in the spring of 2005 when he went back to Trumbull High and helped bring Trumbull to a Division II State Championship. He later went on the be an assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at ND-West Haven for 7 years. Anderson has also coached girls soccer and boys basketball through the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference for the past thirteen years totaling over 35 seasons. In addition to coaching the Freshman Football team, he is currently the Head JV Boys Lacrosse coach at Staples High School and is coaching youth football Basketball and Lacrosse with Westport Pal. Steve is also the grade director of the 2026 eclipse lacrosse club.


Ron Clarke

Ron Clarke enters his second year on the Staples football staff as Defensive Coordinator for the Freshman football team. Ron has been a youth sports coach in Westport for more than 16 years including youth football for nearly a decade and has coached almost all the current players on the Staples Varsity team during this time. The former college baseball player has coached baseball as well and has served on the Board for Westport Youth Baseball as well as serving in a variety of roles for the Gridiron Club and the Staples Matmen.


Andrew Pfefferle

Andrew Pfefferle joined the Staples football staff this year as an offensive line coach for the freshman team. He graduated from Staples in 2012 and currently is a certified personal trainer. This past spring, he was an assistant coach for PAL boys lacrosse and helped out with the mini wreckers teaching them the fundamentals of the game. Andrew was a three sport athlete in high school playing football, hockey and lacrosse. His passion outside of work is powerlifting, his goal for the future is a 1,000lb Squat.


Gaetana Deiso

“G” is certified with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed through the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Springfield College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in Nutrition. She begins her 15th year as Head Athletic Trainer at Staples. Prior to Staples, she worked 5 years as Head Athletic Trainer at Greens Farms Academy and at Moore Center for Rehabilitation. She also worked with Fairfield University’s football and rugby teams from 1999 to 2002. In the summer of 2002, she worked at Boyle’s Strength and Conditioning in Boston, where she trained many professional athletes and Olympic athletes. She was also on the CATA Secondary School Committee from 2007-2012. "G" is a Certified Functional Strength Coach and a TFW (Training For Warriors) Certified Coach. She is the owner of Body Blast Sports Performance. She lives in Trumbull with her husband, Doug, and daughters, Michaela and Gabriella.


Corey Lamonico

Corey is certified with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed through the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. Upon graduation Corey worked for Forme Rehabilitation in New York where she was contracted to Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Mount Vernon, & New Rochelle High Schools. She returned to Connecticut in 2009, worked for Innovative Health & Rehabilitation, and covered New Canaan Youth Football, Staples High School in the winter, and worked in the clinic setting during the spring and summer. She is entering her 8th year as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Staples High School. She is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practioner. Corey is originally from Hartsdale, New York and currently lives in Bridgeport.
